Cayuga County will complete a Countywide Pre-Planning Inventory and Analysis of brownfield-affected properties across 32 towns and villages, excluding the City of Auburn. There are numerous buildings and properties that are known/potential brownfield sites or buildings with contamination from lead paint, deferred asbestos abatements, or other substances. Additionally, there are many non-residential buildings in the county that carry a negative public perception due to the condition of the buildings and length of time they have sat vacant or underutilized. The Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) program Countywide Pre-Planning involves the identification, inventory and analysis of brownfield-affected areas within a county, or other large municipal area, to identify concentrations of vacant, abandoned, underutilized, and/or brownfield properties for more localized future planning efforts.
We need your input on the plan’s recommendations for reuse and redevelopment of potentially contaminated and underutilized sites across the county!
